Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada, but was raised in the US. She's worked as a media critic since 1995. She founded Feminist Frequency, a site that features videos and comments discussing the depictions of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American media critic and blog writer who has won awards for her work, is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency, a website to educate women about their positions in the pop culture narratives, is her brainchild. She also serves as the executive director. In addition, she works to bring awareness to the harassment and targeted attack on women and as well as other minorities, she is committed to breaking the stereotypes in the popular culture. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in the fields of social thought and political science from York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public speaking. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. As a university student she became fascinated by the issue of gender identity and women's rights from a young age. Someone who hoped to create a web series that examined the representation of gender in video games, she was targeted by the internet campaign. She was not deterred from the attack, and the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be a media critic and feminist. She has won several awards for her contributions to feministism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded many awards, and also founded Feminist Frequency, an educational nonprofit that studies the way women are depicted in popular culture narratives.
