Kari Sam Wuhrer born April 28, 1968 is an American singer and actress. Her career began when she was an teen and is most well known for her roles as Maggie Beckett in the television show Sliders and as Sheriff Samantha Parker in the horror comedy film Eight Legged Freaks.Wuhrer was born in Brookfield, Connecticut, the daughter of Karin (nee Noble), a payroll accountant, and German American Andrew Wuhrer, a police officer and car salesman. There are three brothers and sisters. The singer began performing in clubs as a teenager, and was known to sneak away from her home to perform. Kari was only 13 when she began her acting lessons at Wooster School. In the following years, Kari enrolled at Tisch School of the Arts of New York University. Columbia University. Marymount Manhattan College. Kari started performing at the age of a teenager. Her breakthrough occurred in 1987, when she was introduced to MTV Remote Control.
